A Fresh Lens: Discover 2

Pin Hole Photography- Dark Room

Looking into the history of photography as a way to understand the essence of a photo and how truly significant it can be as it captures a moment that no longer exists. We worked with might sensitive paper and a pinhole cameras device made from a paint can to capture images. working between test strips and full size papers to find the right exposure. Developing the photos was a beautiful method that slowed down the act of taking a photo. Using this ‘old school’ method helped me to take notice of new things in an image. I was able to hold a greater appreciation for the photograph. I treated my work with gently and with care.

These are my results, I was able to get a great exposure in my first two works and the visual element of line was emphasized in the black and white inverted image. One main take away from this work was the appreciation of the time and chemistry that goes into capturing and image.

Walk 3-

Walking to an unfamiliar place that I hadn’t been before was interesting. I engaged with the ideas around an explorative nature. rather than a walk it felt like an adventure.

Every now an then I would sit down and take a closer look at where I had ended up. this act allowed my work to have thought to it rather than snapping a shot quickly. I used my dslr camera using manual mode as another way of slowing down the process of adventure. I was noticing the decorative marks in the houses around me. the added beauty which has no practicality to it. It made me think about the ways each human personalizes the things they make or the spaces around them.
