Had a bit of fun smashing up these cinder blocks I come across, it was nice to work with a bit of weight. I ended up just making an ‘impossible brick’, something that wouldn’t really be used in any practical sense. Interesting to look at nonetheless, though not the most inviting. I like the abstract notches and rough angles of the brick.
I wanted to make something bigger, heavier and more intrusive. So I bought a lot of plaster and decided to use the familiar traffic cone to be the mould. The first one came out cool! The food colouring did a better job then I was hoping.
but I felt like it needed a friend.
Mmmmm yummy, I decided to fill the whole thing up this time to see if I could get the base to work. It ultimately proved to be too thin so I had to smack it off.
This came out looking so awesome. It looked like I captured a nebula in a cone. This thing was weighty and bold. A real attention stealer without any true intent. Headphone warning…
Sometimes my chaotic creativity rubs off on those around me and it leads to unexpected collaborations, this is something that I can support. Of course permission was granted to have at my master piece with an angle grinder.
I think I achieved my goal of creating something very much present in the physical world. I wanted to really emphasise that u mostly anything can occupy the empty universe with anything!
