(8) Discovering, Uncovering, recovering – Creating final work

I’d finally arrived at the point when I was going to finish my project. It was stressful and hectic, but it was weirdly enjoyable and fulfilling to watch everything I’d done come together. I had enlarged up the panoramic photographs. Printed them on A3 paper in order to piece them together into a large jigsaw puzzle. As I indicated before, I had also cut off the background of the original photographs to isolate the structure. To make it appear like a structure in and of itself. When all the pieces were put together, it looked great, but it was a little lackluster to me so I did a little more thinking.

Final Work and researching on paperspast.com

I had hoped to spend more time researching injustice and justice. The juxtaposition of the structure’s appearance and the interior’s horrible past. As well as the balance and imbalance. So I went to a website called ‘paperspast.com.’. The Auckland Government manages the website. It has an archive of historic documents, papers, and other artifacts from the city’s past. I discovered newspaper articles and legislative (parliamentary) papers that discussed legal inequities and prejudice. It was ideal for what I had wanted to create.

I utilized authentic documents from Auckland’s past to mirror the courthouse, extending the contradiction even further. I wanted to make it appear as though injustice was being perpetrated on purpose as a result of the justice system’s corruption.
