Palimpsest: Processed Drawings 4

These works were made using a Japanese art magazine from the 90’s. I was interested in this source material alot because of the paper, text, and size because it’s fairly small (B6 I think). I began to rip apart the pages from it and freestyle a collage type installation, layering it and manipulating pages to create more dimensional and less flat

I began using text from a book of Samoan hymns. I became increasingly intrigued by how writing and lettering from two different languages looked once put together and decided to play around with that idea by painting Samoan lyrics onto papers from the magazine.

I’m happy with the works on this wall although it’s not very coherent because things like the masking tape, paper, and layering effect create a little bit of interconnectivity
