Material Assemblage: Artist

Judy Darragh

Darragh’s range of materials in her work tittles ‘competitive Plastics’ give you a sense that they are fighting for the spotlight, the combinations of material used really compliment, contrast each other, Its interesting how Darragh composes these materials, they seem completely unique, they individually stand out and completely blend in with each other at the same time, It’s an organised mess. I love it.

Don Driver

The uncommon combination used in the piece, Yellow Tentacle Pram got the Idea, can I use foods? This abstract artist has been fusing objects of all kinds together, creating sculptures unknown to the mind. the use of ‘noodles’ looks like spaghetti, this idea generated further after looking in the kitchen, food combinations in a way that isn’t meant to be eaten, is interesting.

Studson Studio

I was inspired by Studson studio, an artist on YouTube who creates miniature sculptures out of scrap pieces of all kinds, he is inspired by video games, movies and TV shows that he enjoys. In the Howl’s Moving Castle video he used a toy which he broke up in specific pieces, it gave me the idea to use the scraps of board game and think outside of the box. In the Spirited Away video we watch him create the iconic building with a tissue box, this cost saving thinking gave me the ability to look at all the objects I had and see what bigger potential they had.
