(4) Verisimilitude – Artist research

Kevin Mack:

One of the artists I looked at for this project is Kevin Mack. Regarded as a forerunner in the fields of immersive art, computer graphics, and visual effects; Mack uses Transcendental visions, nature, and technology. He uses all of these as sources for his inspirations. Mack is Influenced by studies in a variety of domains, ranging from neurology to artificial life. Mack’s early childhood ideas sparked a lifetime desire to present them through immersive virtual reality art.

Mack’s artistry is, in my opinion, one-of-a-kind. Metaphysical. Psychedelic. I am immersed by Mack’s visually appealing work. And his otherworldly visions fascinate me his concept of producing vivid depictions of consciousness is simply incredible. Mack’s sculptures are unique in that they have personality and originality, if that makes sense. It’s incredible how he constructs an entire world that isn’t limited by our terrestrial reality.

Cesar Ortega:

Featured at ‘museum of other realities’ is artist Cesar Ortega. Ortega created “Solve et Coagula”. A virtual sculpture that means to dissolve and coagulate or to demolish in order to recreate. He created this sculpture to depict the totality of life’s process. Ortega designed this to depict life’s destruction. And how, as horrible as it may be, is an unavoidable aspect of our existence. It encapsulates the ‘meaning of life’ in a physically formed sculpture or artwork.

This piece drew me in. As It deals with humanity, consciousness, the totality of our life, and existence much like Kevin Mack’s work. Ortega’s art makes me think about how insignificant we are as humans in a never-ending cosmos; how we’ll all die one day. And that’s what makes life so special. It creates the meaning of life in lack thereof. And how we should utilize that time to create something absolutely astounding.
