Rita Ackermann

Born Budapest, Hungary, 1968

Rita Ackermann’s uses human shapes to simulate the way she makes them disappear and re-emerge in compositions, Her Large-scale canvas compositions were prepared with chalkboard paint before washes of white chalk and green and blue colours were added in a series named Chalkboard Paintings.

These non-literal works of art and scenes have been imaginatively executed by various cancellations of metaphorical drawings and scenes, reminiscent of authentic blackboards in a school, canvassed in coincidental deletions and markings. The revenant shape of the erased designs frequently emerges into the forefront as a result of these actions.

Her work to me shows a lot of emotions and strong connections, the way she first uses the charcoal to do those lines and then paints shows a lot of depth within the art pieces . I personally enjoy the first image due to the colours, the colours shows this impact of fire and water coming together.
