By Implication – After Atapō

Today we “explored how visual language can be used to infer concepts without being representational by making drawings-in-space using planar and linear elements.” Starting off, I found this task pretty difficult as I’ve never created anything like this before; So I didn’t know where to start. But I eventually got the hang of it after getting help from my classmates. For todays work, I wanted to base my work off of the wires “invading” the cardboards space. I think one improvement that could be made is by making my work with more than one piece of cardboard.

Entopic Graphomania Exercise – Day two

– Tracing over books by using parchment paper, pencil, and pen

To create this work, I placed this paper on top of a page of a novel and dotted every “i” that I was able to find on it. Once i dotted all of them, I began connecting each marks with a pencil, without thinking about making it look nice. I then went over and marked down where ever I felt like, and connected them with a pen.

Day Two -” Yoko Ono, Grapefruit: A Book of Instructions and Drawings”

“SHOOT 100 PANES OF GLASS

When a person hurts you so badly,
Line up 100 panes of glass in
the field and shoot a bullet
through it.
Take a copy of a map made by
the cracks of each glass and
send a map a day for 100 days
to the person who has hurt you.”

– March 3rd 2021.

For this exercise I used 3 different coloured thread to represent the cracks of each layer of the broken pane of glass. The reason I used coloured thread was an attempt to emulate the lines that are often used in maps, as the instruction states “Take a copy of a map made by the cracks of each glass.”
